The Maryborough's Top Tips to Make Your Wedding More Sustainable

At The Maryborough, we believe that your dream wedding can also be eco-friendly and sustainable. Our amazing Wedding Coordinators Ellis has put together her top tips to help you plan a wedding that not only celebrates your love but also respects our beautiful planet:

1. Go Digital with Your Invites:

   - Explore free wedding planning websites that allow you to send save-the-dates, invitations, and consolidate all wedding information in one place for your guests.

   - Save time by addressing guests' questions about dress codes, accommodation, and transport directly on the website.

   - Guests can RSVP online, and the website will compile their information, including contact details, dietary preferences, song requests, and more, into a convenient spreadsheet.

2. Eco-Friendly Décor:

   - The Maryborough offers a stunning natural backdrop that requires minimal additional décor. Our orangery, adorned with hanging wisteria and 5000 fairy lights, opens into our 300-year-old listed gardens, setting the perfect scene for your ceremony and drinks reception.

   - We provide candelabras and locally sourced seasonal flowers for dinner centrepieces, reducing the need for additional decorations.

   - Consider reusing décor elements throughout the day to minimize waste. For instance, ceremony flowers can be repurposed for dinner centrepieces.

   - Embrace the trend of dried flowers for bouquets, which can be kept and cherished long after your special day.

3. Sustainable Wedding Favours:

   - Instead of traditional table favours, consider making donations to a charity close to your heart in your guests' names. Communicate this heartfelt gesture to your guests on your wedding menus.

   - If you prefer to treat your guests, offer them a drink during dinner or include extra nibbles during the drinks reception.

   - Explore eco-friendly favours like wildflower seeds, handmade items, or edible treats to minimize waste.

4. Make Your Menu Eco-Friendly:

   - Collaborate with our local suppliers and chefs to create a wedding menu that is not only sustainable but also delicious. Our chefs can guide you on selecting seasonal ingredients to craft a delectable and planet-friendly menu.

5. Shop Local:

   - Opt for local suppliers to reduce your wedding's carbon footprint by limiting transportation distances.

   - Local suppliers familiar with our venue can contribute to a seamless and stress-free wedding experience.

   - Don't hesitate to ask your wedding coordinator for a list of recommended local suppliers.

Remember, sustainability is about making conscious choices, not seeking perfection. Even small changes can make a significant positive impact on your special day. Let's work together to create a wedding that celebrates love and the beauty of our planet.
