We booked the Maryborough house hotel in Feb 2012 for our wedding on the 6th July 2012. Between those dates we made many an excuse to go to the hotel simply to soak up what can only be described as a little bit of heaven. Like all newlyweds we kept on saying “it was the best day in my life” and i believe all of the hardworking staff in the Maryborough had a considerable role in making it so. Each member of staff we encountered was friendly, professional and helpful from the reception staff to the banqueting and bar staff. We had the absolute pleasure of dealing with Niamh Mc Carthy when co-ordinating the wedding. All of her advice was spot on and much appreciated. From day one i had great confidence in all of the staff, it became clear that they have a lot of experience in catering for weddings and are experts in their field. The wedding packages available offer great quality and value. We loved the bridal suite, the style was in keeping with the grand old house, however it had all the mod cons and was very comfortable and spacious. Some of the staff came out to wave the bridal party off when we went to the church. A small gesture but it really was a lovely touch and reflects excellent hospitality. The canapés and drinks reception in the marquee was lovely. It was enjoyed by all even though the rain was pouring from the heavens in the beautiful gardens. The wedding meal was incredible, we were delighted. For weeks afterwards we were getting high praise for the standard of food. It really was a beautiful meal and it got better with each course. Besides the wedding period we have overnighted in the hotel on several occasions and were always delighted with our rooms. Spacious, clean and comfortable. The Deluxe rooms have a balcony overlooking the beautiful grounds and the Jacuzzi bath is a lovely touch in the spa rooms. Many of our guests stayed in the hotel around the time of the wedding and had such positive feedback and many have plans to return to the Maryborough just for a bit of R&R. The week before the wedding we had a fantastic relaxing massage as part of our package. The Spa is a beautiful space and i recommend folk to spend time in the thermal suite before your treatment. My husband was slightly reluctant initially, however i can safely say he is now planning to pop down to the Spa the next time we stay in the Maryborough. We have been lucky to stay in several 5 star hotels in Ireland. Even immediately after the wedding we treated ourselves to a few nights in what is deemed to be one of Irelands top hotels and to be entirely honest the overall package offered to guests in the Maryborough is superior. For me it is the perfect hotel, the staff are professional and friendly, the interior is beautiful and homely, the rooms are comfortable with all the mod cons, the food outstanding. Well done to all who work there and to all that visit enjoy every minute.

Niall and I would like to say a huge thank you to yourself, Sean and all the staff at The Maryborough House Hotel. We had the most wonderful wedding day and the service the hotel provided was superb. We definitely lost count of the amount of people saying to us what a great wedding it was and that the food was fabulous. We were lucky with the weather that day and our guests were able to relax in the sun with a cocktail. The marquee is fantastic – such a great setting for an afternoon of drinking. Elaine – we personally would like to thank you for your service in the build up to the big day. Thank you for listening to all our queries regarding the menu and for tweaking it to suit us.  Thank you for making the whole process so easy for us. We were definitely very relaxed the week of the wedding and we knew we didn’t have to worry about anything when it came to the hotel aspect. Can you pass the following messages for us please? Sean – thank you so much for taking such good care of us on our big day. It was flawless. The whole day just goes by so quickly and everyone is so busy it was hard to grab a minute with you. So we definitely want to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to you. To the Chef – what can we say…superb!!!! Everyone raved about how fantastic the food was. It was truly delicious. Thank you for a top class meal. To all the staff – thank you for the excellent service. We are really looking forward to coming back next year for our anniversary. Thank you for the invite.

My name is Andrew Dunne, Myself and my wife Helen Power had the joy of getting married in your hotel on the 20th of September 2012. This is just an email to say thank you to your hotel on behalf of all our guests and ourselves on creating such a brilliant atmosphere in your hotel. Everyone had an amazing time and we are still getting compliments on how smooth and relaxed everything went. All our guests were amazed with the standard of the food and the level of service provided by each and every one of your staff throughout out the hotel. From the girls on reception to the waiters and waitresses in the restaurant. We had a few fussy eaters and even they said they cleared the plate of food as it was so good. There were one or two little stories told to us by our guests that really impressed us, one of our guests asked would it be possible to get a green tea instead of a normal one after the dinner. The waitress who was serving the table duly obliged to the surprise of our guest as there has been times when other hotels have not being as obliging. On the night of the wedding I asked the security guard down by the smoking area downstairs would we be able to have a few chairs to sit on outside as myself and a few of the lads intend on having cigars and would like to sit down, this was not a problem to him and off he went and got us six chairs, no hassle, no fuss, no bother. These may seem like little things but to myself and Helen they meant a lot and were part of making our day. A few individuals that stood out for us over the time we dealt with the hotel.....Elaine, our wedding coordinator, lovely woman and a joy to deal with anytime we met or talked with Elaine she allowed us to bounce ideas around on what we wanted to do and then would give her opinion on whether it would work or not and if she felt it might not always came up with a little solution to the problem. She was always available to us so I would make sure to keep her as she is one of the good ones. Dominic, a pure gent and a pleasure to have had him involved in our wedding. He approached me on the morning of the wedding and told me to make sure myself and Helen enjoyed the day and that he would always be within 20ft of us for the day making sure everything went the way it was meant to and through to his word he was, during my speech I had a prop put aside and when I turned around to use it at first I couldn’t see where it was but then out of nowhere Dominic appeared with the prop and handed it to me, Little things like this made the day feel that little bit more special. Roy and Alan behind the bar. We first met the two lads when we did our tasting in June and when we left myself and Helen both hoped the two lads would be working the weekend of our wedding and sure enough they were. They both remembered myself and Helen straight away and we all caught up chatting just like we had at our tasting. The lads are a credit to your hotel with their chat and banter that they had with ourselves and indeed all our guests. A group of our friends would particularly like to thank the lads for the sandwiches they sent out to them on the afternoon after the wedding as they were having a few cures and the sandwiches helped them through till the evening. My guests would also like to compliment  the lads on their cocktail making skills, keep it up lads! Martin, our bar man out in the marquee also a gent, hope all is well with him and his wife’s new arrival. Jenny on reception, absolute pleasure, nothing was ever a problem for her to deal with and always had a smile on her face. Also the young porter who had to slave bring up the bits and pieces up to the honeymoon suite, fair play cause there was a lot and even after going up the stairs a fair few times still made sure that everything was where it should have been and always with a smile. Marie in reservations was so helpful in the build-up to the wedding, any updates on guests booking the rooms that I need were always sent to me straight away and unfortunately we never got to thank her while we were there. To some up the email, you have a unique and wonderful team in the Maryborough hotel and we cannot thank you enough for the way everyone at the wedding was treated. Our day couldn’t have been so good without the help of all your staff. We look forward to returning on our first anniversary to see how the renovations in the bar have gone, and we hope to possibly return before then too. Once again a big thank you to everyone in your beautiful hotel for making our day so special and very memorable.

September 2012

We can not say enough good things about the Maryborough. From the day I rang to enquire about dates and making an appointment to view, Sinead stood out as being different to the rest. Maryborough was the 5th hotel I rang that morning – I had a list. I was put through to Sinead and she was so friendly, the first thing she did was congratulate us on our engagement. I realised at that moment that this was the first hotel that had done that – and it was just a lovely touch but also it made me think the hotel were friendly and didn’t seem bored about the whole wedding planning thing. We met Sinead that week and she was just lovely – seemed genuinely excited for us and very willing to take the wedding planning journey with us. While it was the first hotel we viewed we viewed another 7 after and each one was a disappointment in comparison. From the Manager standing us up, to another manager being 40 minutes late for our appointment, and then another hotel told us have a wander ourselves and see how we get on. It made us more and more aware of how different the Maryborough and Sinead had been. So obviously we booked the Maryborough and they were just super to deal with. I think our favourite bit was we dealt with Sinead each time – one of my friends is getting married and every time she meets her hotel it’s a different person. We were able to build up a relationship with Sinead and she kept track of everything we asked for and made sure it all happened on the day. We only met with Sinead 3 times in total from viewing to the big day but there were a good few email and phone conversations. There was no task to great for this hotel, anything we asked for was looked after. Also on price we found the girls very fair to deal with. The day itself was perfect – with all our guests commenting on the service, the food, how lovely the rooms were. We left the Maryborough after our wedding totally delighted and we have both said there wasn’t one thing they could have done better.
