One of the first, and hardest, decisions in wedding planning is choosing among the hundreds of different wedding venues in Ireland. It can be daunting, but as most of your day will be spent here, it’s important to choose one that suits you as a couple. And there are a number of factors that come into the decision making equation: cost, location, venue type, date, capacity, etc.
But in the midst of all that, there’s one thing to consider.
It’s so simple yet easy to forget. Can you actually picture yourself there on your wedding day? Can you envision your guests milling around chatting and laughing during the drinks reception? Can you see you and your new husband or wife kissing in the gardens or thanking your family and friends during the reception?
Can you picture it? Better yet, can you visualise how the photos will look so you can remember the special day for years to come?
Karl Largerfield once said, “What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.” It’s so true, so there needs to be a bit of thought beforehand to ensure you get the best photos possible.
What are the must-see areas of the venue for photographs?
When you visit each wedding venue, always ask the coordinator to show you around the entire venue grounds. Ask about specific areas of the venue that lend itself to capturing those remarkable memories. You want something spectacular that is going to photograph well. You want to think ‘WOW’ when you see the images for the first time.
With it’s unique location in the midst of acres of natural woodlands and gorgeous 300 year old listed gardens, The Maryborough Hotel & Spa venue provides a beautiful backdrop for your wedding photos. Our stately 18th century manor house offers an enchanting oasis in the heart of towering trees and colourful flowers. We feel incredibly lucky to have such beautiful surroundings and phenomenal backdrops.
Zen Garden & Fountain
Tucked away in front of the Old House is the charming ambiance of our Zen Garden. Surrounded by attractive greenery of shrubs and trees, it feels as if you’re in a secret space. The central focal point of the area is a lovely water feature and fountain. And looking back over the Zen Garden, your photographer can capture the stately steps and front facade of the historic home that is now The Maryborough.
Gardens & Woodlands
The Maryborough is situated in the midst of natural parklands with majestic oaks, rhododendrons, hydrangeas and more. The natural beauty of The Maryborough is enhanced by the venue’s thoughtful landscaping. While your guests enjoy Champagne and cocktails in the surrounds of the 300 year old listed gardens, your wedding photographer can be inspired by any number of stunning backdrops to capture the spectacular memories. As the bride and groom, you are able to be a part of the celebrations, right in the thick of things, while taking the photographs. You can even invite your family and friends to join in! As the drinks reception is in the garden, and the lawn area is so large, it makes for a fabulous spot for those big family photos.
Built in 1710, our Georgian mansion stands statuesquely at the centre of the grounds, proud of its heritage and embracing many elements original to the house. The ornate, embellished ceiling in one of our bridal suites is not to be missed and is a perfect complement to the elegance of your wedding dress. The soaring, inset windows ideally frame you and your partner. And no wedding is complete without making the most of our spiral staircase, a gorgeous visual statement.
It’s a day tailor made for you, to celebrate your love and one you will cherish through the years. Memories may fade but the photographs will always be there to remind you of your story. Make the most of it.
