Understandably, brides want to look their absolute best on one of the most special days of their lives. But sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. What should I include in my beauty routine? How frequently should I moisturise or exfoliate? Is there anything I can do to not only look, but feel better on the day? And with the stress and hectic schedule that comes with planning the wedding, it can sometimes be a challenge.
So the team at Maryborough Spa wanted to offer a few quick guidelines to our princess brides as you prepare for your wedding.
For flawless skin in your photographs, start a facial routine that fits into your lifestyle, consisting of the following:
- Cleanse morning and night. If wearing makeup, do a double cleanse at night.
- Tone to remove any make-up residue and close pores.
- Moisturise to balance and/or hydrate your skin.
- Exfoliate once or twice a week depending on your skin type. It improves the texture of your skin and the absorption of your products.
If you are unsure of the correct products to use for your skin, we recommend you have a facial. The therapist will be able to advise you as to the proper products for your specific skin type. To enhance and support your own routine, consider also having a facial approximately every two months.
For smooth, soft skin on your wedding day and honeymoon, exfoliate your body a few times a week, as well as moisturising daily. This smoothes the skin, increases circulation and hydrates. Use a body brush on dry skin or an exfoliator in the shower.
Additionally, if you plan to get a spray tan, we recommend these steps to allow the tan to apply easier and last longer. Test a few tans before the big day to find the best type for you. On the day of a spray tan, do not exfoliate, moisturise, or use deodorant as this could streak the tan. Do have a light shower the morning of the tan. Tip: Make sure you do exfoliate and moisturise in the days leading up to your appointment.
A good trick to enhance your eyes is to tint both brows and lashes. This opens up your eyes and face and ensures you will not be left with any embarrassing mascara watermarks on the day. If you’ve never had this done before, it is advised you have it done in advance as it will take a few days to get use to. Tip: Be aware that you need to get a patch test done 24 hours before your tint to make sure you have no allergies to the tint.
To really show off the sparkle in your engagement and wedding rings, treat your fingers to a luxury manicure before the big day. In the months prior to your wedding, keep your nails and hands hydrated with a high quality hand cream.
For the best results on your feet, have a number of pedicures in advance of your wedding. Don’t leave it until the last minute! When moisturising your body, go as far as your heels and feet.
Not only do you want to look fabulous on your day, you want to feel it too! Firstly, eat correctly with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Secondly, stay hydrated by drinking water. Thirdly, and most importantly, you need to incorporate an exercise routine.
To help to achieve even greater results, detox. Consider having a body wrap. They help you to relax and unwind but also encourage the body to flush out any unwanted toxins. A course of wraps, perhaps one a month, along with your exfoliating and moisturising routine, will leave your skin feeling brand new.
You'll be beautifully glowing on your happy day!
